Alcon 2010 Launches!
Alcon is back and better than ever! This time running at 700 capacity we have so much planned to bring all of you our best convention yet!There will be a lot of changes this year, so let's go through them all!
- Introducing the Mecha Clan! - Yes, the long demanded for mecha become our 4th clan of Alcon! ROW ROW FIGHT DA POWAH everyone!
- We leave the Quay behind - Unfortunately the beloved Quay bar has been turned into a Tescos (!) However this has proven a blessing in disguise for the Alcon bar will be Level 1 in the Campus Centre for 2010. Level 1 is approximately twice the size of the Quay with far superior facilities and is regularly used as both a bar and a night-club. Yes, that's right - Alcon shall have an anime night-club for the night-times, folks!
- Extended - Level 1 shall open on the Thursday from 5pm onward! So, Alcon is now officially a four-day event! The bar will also open at 10am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and close at 2am! This means your convention will be very much extended over last year, and all at the same price!
- Prices - Entry remains at £25 which for a four-day event is amazing value for money. Unfortunately accommodation will have to rise slightly to £24 a night, but we believe this remains extremely affordable. We shall also be looking toward acquiring en-suite accommodation as another option this year, though pricing for this is very likely to be higher. Note that payment will be required by the end of April to guarantee these prices.
- 18+ - Unfortunately due to a recent change in the law, it is no longer viable for us to offer accommodation to under 18s. As such, we regret to inform everyone that Alcon 2010 will be an 18+ event. Sorry, but this is beyond our control.
- The J-Culture room - An entire room shall be set aside to learn about Japanese Culture! Come along and broaden your horizons. We shall also be showing various Japanese shows and movies!
- The Cosplay Chillout - NEW! Get together and chillout with other cosplayers throughout the day! The room will contain handy supplies to get your costumes perfect before Saturday's masquerade!
- Anime Night-Club - We've already mentioned this, but we such epic plans for this that it deserves a double-mention. Stay tuned as we reveal the amazing party line-up that we have in store for everyone!
- Big-name Voice-Actor to come - Yes, this year we will have a big-name guest. We have a couple of deals in the works, so expect an announcement sometime after this Easter.
-More panelists, events and guests - With the Campus Centre and Queens Building both now hired out, Alcon 2010 will have the space and resources to be able to put on even more panelists and events over last year. We will also be looking toward getting the very best guests and anime speakers from all over the UK.
