Alcon cosplay weapon rules

1. All weapons and props must be checked at the Ops desk on first arrival and approved by a committee member before allowed into the convention. There are no exceptions to this.

2. Weapons that will not be allowed (under any circumstance):
• Crossbows and archery equipment
• Metal replica guns e.g. .22 airguns or deactivated guns
• Rifles and SMGs
• Metal weaponry
• Pole arms
• Replica handguns

Magazines and batteries as well as caps and incendiaries are also not allowed or if taken, must be handed in to the ops desk.

3. Weapons that are allowed and any conditions that must be met:
• Wood/other solid weapons – Must also be sheathed with sharp parts or corners covered
• Props and weapons made from a lightweight material such as card, balsa wood, foam etc
• Unrealistic guns e.g. light guns and plastic toy guns with fitted “blaze” tip
• BBGuns - Magazine must be emptied as well as the battery being removed (either before convention or at the Ops desk) and it must be kept holstered, drawn only for photographs.

In all cases, the weapon or prop must be no longer than 1.5 m (4’9’’). Any items longer this may be used in the Masquerade only and must be handed in to Ops for safekeeping until then. If they are not handed in prior to the Masquerade they will not be permitted in the event itself

4. If your weapon is not allowed under these rules then it must be handed in at the beginning of the convention or not brought at all. Violation of this will see the weapon removed from the person for the convention and depending on the circumstance, removal of the person from the convention may occur too.

5. If you unsure about whether your weapon or prop will be allowed, please feel free to Contact Us with pictures of the item as well as measurements or a description.

6. The Alcon committee reserve the right to amend and update these guidelines at any point prior to or during the convention with or without the for-knowledge of attendees in the risk of public and convention safety.
