(5/5/08) >> Memberlist Clearout, Registration & Accommodation open again || [Comment Here]

We are pleased to inform everyone that after our inactive member clearout (ie: those who are unpaid and did not respond by the deadline to ask for an extension), we now have over 50 registration places available. We also have some extra accommodation available, but this is very limited, and will be sold on a first come, first served basis.

Everyone whose on the waiting list currently for both registration and accommodation will get what they requested. You will get an email later on tonight with full information on payment information and how to pay.

Following the deadline passing, we have reviewed our pricing structure and can inform everyone that three day entry shall remain at £25, with one day entry available at £15. However, accommodation prices will rise to £21 a night for all new registrations (if you are already registered, the price will remain at £19.50 provided you pay by May 31st). As a reminder, we are non-profit making, and this extra money will 100% go toward making this convention a better experience for all of our attendees.

As always, if you are confused or have any questions, then don't hesitate to contact us.
(28/4/08) >> Payment Deadline - Contact us if you require an extension || [Comment Here]

With the payment deadline of the 31st April fast approaching this email has already been sent out, but we are also posting it here in case some have not checked their inboxes.

We are offering up to a one month extension to those who are struggling to pay in time. If you require an extension then please Contact Us (Click here) asap. If you do not pay and you do not contact us, then your registration will be cancelled.

With regards to the availability of the accommodation and entry places, we will be able to make an announcement about this on Monday 5th May to confirm what is and what is not available.

In other news, expect to see plenty of exciting announcements over the next month once we get a few confirmations through.
(6/3/08) >> Capacity raised to 400, Accommodation Full, and New Bar || [Comment Here]

Any questions? Don't hesitate to contact us and we will answer your question within 24 hours.

Capacity of Alcon increased to 400

Following an extremely strong rate of signups, we have taken the decision to expand our capacity from 350 members to 400 members. This change will allow us to hire all of the rooms in the Queens Building (our main Uni building), and it will also allow us to hire a larger bar.

Accommodation is maxed out for now.

Unfortunately our accommodation has hit the capacity. Any new registrations will be put onto a waiting list for accommodation, and will be emailed as and when rooms become available.

Please note that if you do not pay by April 30th, you will lose your registration place and be required to re-register. This will mean that you'll lose your accommodation place as well. We advise everyone to pay before this cut-off date to avoid disappointment, since there are currently only 220 places available on-site.

We shall do our best to try and ensure everyone has a place, but we would advise anyone who has not yet registered to check out hotels around Leicester. The Travel Lodge is within 10-15 minutes walk of the convention, and works out as being reasonably inexpensive if you share three people to a three-bed room.

As a reminder, while accommodation is currently at capacity, convention places are still available, so still do register if you have not already!

The Quay is our new bar.

We are delighted to announce that The Quay will be our exclusive bar hire for Alcon 2008. It is about double the size of our previous bar at '07, the Bishops Blaise, and ideally suited to a convention of our size. Some of you may remember it from Alcon 2007; it was the building opposite the small Sainsburys and about sixty seconds walk from the Bede Hall accommodation.

The opening, closing and cosplay masquerades will take place in the Quay, as well as the partying events.

We are pleased to announce that Yu-Gi-Oh: The Abridged Series Community Team will be attending Alcon 2008. This presents a great opportunity to meet the people behind managing this incredibly popular online series. While its creator, LittleKuriboh, will unfortunately not be able to attend due to other commitments, its head of marketing and community website, Ben King will be. He will be doing a panel whereby he will discuss how he has helped to promote the series and has helped its community of loyal fans to develop.

The team will be hosting the "Dub that anime" contest whereby attendees will have the opportunity to redub clips in a fashion similar to YGO:TAS - stay tuned for more details! YGO:TAS fans may also expect many other treats, which will be announced closer to the time!

(13/11/07) >> Thursday Night Accommodation is now available. || [Comment Here]

We recognise that some attendees have to travel long distances, and so we have decided to make Thursday night accommodation available. However, this is currently limited to 50 rooms. There is a possibility of more rooms, but it's still uncertain at this point so if you'd like a good nights rest before getting into all the hustle and bustle of the con, make sure to signup and pay early! If you have already registered and wish to add Thursday night, then simply contact us about it. Click here to read more and to comment.
